For the position of Jr. Chemist

Qualification: B.Sc. (Chemistry)
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of experience with knowledge of microorganism
identification and laboratory testing procedures
Age Range: 25–30 Years
Location: 40 MLD Jodhpur Site
Reporting To: O&M Manager
Offered Package: ₹3.0 LPA – ₹4.0 LPA
1. Job Overview
The Jr. Chemist will be responsible for conducting routine laboratory analysis of inlet and
treated effluent, monitoring STP operational parameters, and maintaining accurate
laboratory documentation. The role ensures compliance with environmental standards and
supports smooth plant operations through scientific data collection and testing.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Laboratory Analysis & Testing
Conduct daily analysis of inlet and outlet effluent samples as per prescribed
methods (APHA/IS standards).
Perform physical, chemical, and biological testing such as pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, COD,
DO, MLSS, MLVSS, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, etc.
Identify and observe microorganisms present in biological treatment processes
(MLSS/Sludge).
Conduct microscopic examination to assess health of the biological system.
Prepare reagents, calibration solutions, and ensure proper working of laboratory
instruments.
B. STP Process Monitoring
Monitor STP process parameters and communicate abnormalities to the O&M team.
Assist in process control by providing timely test results to support operational
decisions.
Maintain proper sampling techniques for accurate and representative laboratory
results.
C. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare and maintain daily laboratory analysis reports, logbooks, sample registers,
and calibration records.
Ensure proper documentation for internal audits, client audits, and statutory
compliance.
Consolidate daily, weekly, and monthly analysis data and share with O&M Manager.
Maintain digital records using MS Office (Excel/Word).
D. Equipment Handling & Safety
Operate and maintain lab instruments such as pH meter, DO meter, Turbidity
meter, Spectrophotometer, Microscope, etc.
Ensure regular calibration and standardization of laboratory equipment.
Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain chemical inventory.
Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste generated during testing.
E. Coordination & Support
Support plant operations team by providing accurate testing results on time.
Coordinate with external laboratories if any advanced analysis is required.
Assist during client visits, inspections, and audits by explaining lab practices and
results.
3. Required Skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT) for documentation and reporting.
Strong analytical and observation skills in laboratory testing.
Good understanding of microorganisms commonly found in STP biological processes.
Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in lab work.
Basic communication skills for reporting and coordination.
4. Specific Knowledge Required
Detailed understanding of STP processes (biological treatment, aeration,
sedimentation, sludge handling).
Knowledge of effluent testing procedures and environmental parameters.
Experience in documentation and maintaining daily laboratory analysis reports.
Familiarity with environmental norms and regulatory requirements related to
treated water quality.
