Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager - EHS

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance & Governance

 Ensure compliance with all applicable Gujarat State Pollution Control Board (GPCB), CPCB, Factories Act,

Environment Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Rules, and Occupational Safety laws.

 Maintain statutory records (consent to operate, water/air consents, hazardous waste returns, safety

audits).

 Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory authorities.

2. Safety Management

 Lead implementation of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IMS, and company-specific EHS policies.

 Conduct regular risk assessments, HAZOP, and job safety analysis (JSA).

 Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), and closure of corrective & preventive actions

(CAPA).

 Ensure 100% usage and availability of PPEs.

3. Health & Wellbeing

 Oversee occupational health programs including health check-ups, ergonomics, and wellness initiatives.

 Coordinate with the factory medical team to handle occupational health risks and emergency

preparedness.

4. Environment & Sustainability

 Manage effluent treatment plant (ETP), sewage treatment plant (STP), air emission controls, and hazardous

waste disposal.

 Implement waste minimization, recycling, energy efficiency, and water conservation projects aligned with

corporate sustainability targets.

 Support ESG/BRSR reporting requirements for the factory.

5. Training & Culture Building

 Design and execute EHS training calendar for employees, contract workers, and visitors.

 Conduct safety induction, mock drills, fire safety, and emergency response exercises.

 Promote a behaviour-based safety (BBS) culture and encourage reporting of near misses.

6. Leadership & Continuous Improvement

 Lead the EHS team and coordinate with cross-functional departments to integrate safety into operations.

 Drive safety kaizens, 5S, Gemba walks, and “Zero Harm” initiatives.

 Benchmark with best practices in Gujarat industrial hubs (Ankleshwar, Dahej, Sanand, Hazira, etc.).
