Job Description:
A Mechanical Maintenance Head for an SID (Sponge Iron Division) is a leadership role responsible for managing all mechanical maintenance activities, including preventive and breakdown maintenance, within the plant. Key duties include leading and training the maintenance team, ensuring equipment uptime and safety compliance, controlling maintenance costs, and coordinating with other departments like production. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma and significant experience, with responsibilities like optimizing spare parts procurement and managing mechanical project works.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and team management: Lead, supervise, and train the mechanical maintenance team, allocating manpower for scheduled and breakdown maintenance.
- Equipment maintenance and reliability: Oversee all maintenance activities for mechanical equipment, including preventive and breakdown maintenance, to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Maintenance planning and execution: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, ensure timely completion of tasks, and manage the maintenance budget.
- Technical expertise and troubleshooting: Provide technical guidance for fault finding, repairs, and maintenance of all plant equipment, including auxiliary and major systems.
- Safety and compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and best practices, aiming for zero accidents.
- Coordination and collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as production, to minimize downtime and coordinate on projects.
- Cost and performance control: Monitor and control maintenance costs, optimize production processes, and ensure equipment performance meets targets.
- Procurement and inventory: Assist in the procurement process for spare parts and equipment, and ensure necessary parts are available.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance, often with specific experience in a SID (Sponge Iron Division) or related heavy industry environment.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and maintenance strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in safety regulations and compliance.
