Job Description:

Position:         Manager - Engineering

Location:         Kheda-  Ahmedabad

Experience:      12 - 15 Years

Industries:       Pharma

 

Responsibilities:      

  • Availability of production lines:

  •  

    Monitor availability of all Machines for production.
  • Ensure team attends to breakdown issues on time and study MTTR (Mean time to repair) and MTBF (Mean time between failures).
  • As a part of predictive maintenance process, identify the problems in the systems / machines which could occur in the near future
  • Output from the Production lines:-
  • Monitor daily efficiency of the machines and work to ensure that outputs and efficiency of the production lines is maintained at peak levels with valuable records .
  • Work out plans to improve outputs from the lines and develop proposals for reducing labour costs through improvements in the lines, automation or new equipment as needed.
  • Introducing energy saving projects wherever required .
  • New Plant and Machinery:-
  • Take full responsibility for creating detailed RFQ for any new plant and machinery needed by the Company.
  • Find suitable vendors and get quotes and negotiate prices for any new plant procurements to achieve company objectives with minimum costs
  • Manage process for procurements of any new plant and machinery together with the Factory GM.
  • Ensure all approval trials for all new plant and machinery and take full responsibility for delivering the final result in the factory from the new plant and machinery.
  • Training of Engineering Team:-
  • Must be a very good motivator, communicator and team player.
  • Should be a good trainer and be able to build, motivate and train all engineers in best practices and for best setting and maintenance of all plant and machinery.
  • Must be a good team player and have ability to work closely with all departments like Production, engineering and finance to manage and achieve the company’s goals in production units with very diverse plant, equipment and processes.
  • Inspection of Scheduled Maintenances (Periodic/ Preventive):
  • Monitor implementation of schedule; Spot abnormalities, analyse root cause and take corrective action.
  • Ensure adherence to standard machine inspections & clean work area before production runs.
  • Review daily maintenance reports and documentation of machine run hours to improve efficiency. Review performance analysis
  • Utility management & Energy conservation:
  • Ensure availability of utility spares. Define utility requirement (quality & quantity) for Plant & machineries.
  • Monitor and analyse consumption patterns.
  • Suggest various tests to spot leakage and provide solutions.
  • Drive energy efficiency program in the organization. Audit energy efficiency periodically.
  • Train the maintenance team and other relevant personnel on energy conservation
  • Work to optimise all production lines energy consumption to reduce energy costs.
  • Statutory compliance:
  • Review and update statutory requirements applicable to the plant according to local laws.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance to the statutory requirements for Factory licensing, hazards and waste management.
  • Interact with statutory authorities and facilitate external audits. Perform internal audits and take corrective action
  • Administrative Management (Spares):
  • Develop spares management system (Store, replenishment plan, issue, control); Ensure availability of critical spares as per requirement and control inventory; Monitor purchase reports, storage and issue of spares and control budgets.
  • Implement 5S system for maintenance & utility areas.
  • Plant layout and the design of the shop floor should be visually displayed for compliances
  • Annual Maintenance Contract:
  • Identify vendors / service providers for various Machines & Utilities.
  • Prepare comparative charts based on past performance and submit to Management for approval.
  • After signing of agreement, coordinate with the service providers and ensure proper provision of service and maintenance of appropriate records. Discuss various ways and means of upgrading the system.
  • Safety Standards:
  • Implement Safety Systems and procedures. Adhere to Environmental health and safety compliances.
  • Identify root cause of accidents and prevent re-occurrence of such accidents.
  • Ensure maintenance of safety records as per procedure
  • Process Improvement:
  • Design and establish suitable systems, processes, maintenance strategies appropriate to installation, commissioning guidelines and to ensure optimum production line efficiencies.
  • Maintain documents related to machineries, utilities, plant layout and safety design.
  • Analyze and identify root cause on electrical and mechanical anomalies and eliminate the same.
  • Work on automation projects to reduce cost and improve efficiency
  • Cost control and budget maintenance should comply as per plan
  • People Development – engineering team:
  • Set Objectives and KPI to all team members in line with company objectives.
  • Conduct half yearly and annual appraisals. Appraise talent. Provide performance feedbacks periodically
  • Automation & Controls:
  • Provides automation expertise to the facility in the areas of production machinery, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Drives improvements in production and process automation and delivers benefits in the areas of quality, yield and cost.
  • Leads projects and programs to improve process automation, including installation of equipment.
  • Drive automation at the facility, continuously assessing opportunities for automation and identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Development of automation systems and devices;
  • Engineering (conception, planning, project development in all branches of application (e.g. process control, manufacturing control & electrical power control).

Required Skills:

  • Must be very detailed, organized and thorough in thinking and analysis.
  • Should have experience with implementing automation projects in their organization.
  • Must have excellent engineering skills and indepth knowledge on Filling and packing machineries with very good core engineering knowledge.
  • Having knowledge on Injection moulding additional advantage.
  • Must be capable to handle decoration area like glass bottles lacquering plant, screen printing/foiling /assembling and Vaccum Metalising
  • Be a fast learner, very open minded and very innovative and creative thinker.
  • Must be very proactive, self motivated and Hands on manager.
  • Must be able to manage, motivate, train and build a very good engineering team.
  • Loyal, committed and hard working and totally driven to succeed and achieving excellence and success.
  • Good communication skills.
