Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to manage the tendering process, prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and produce detailed electrical drawings for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and the ability to create accurate technical documentation to support project proposals and bids.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tendering:

   • Review tender documents and understand the scope of electrical works required for each project.
   • Prepare and submit accurate and competitive electrical engineering proposals for tenders.
   • Coordinate with other engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to gather necessary data for tender submissions.
   • Ensure that all tender documentation complies with client requirements and industry standards.
   • Maintain a database of previously submitted tenders for future reference.

2. Bill of Quantities (BOQ):

   • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for electrical works, including material quantities, labor costs, and equipment requirements.
   • Analyze drawings and specifications to extract accurate data for the BOQ.
   • Estimate the cost of electrical materials, labor, and other resources required for the project.
   • Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure that materials and resources are available on time and within budget.
   • Ensure accuracy and consistency in BOQ preparation to support successful project bidding and execution.

3. Drawings:

   • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, including layout plans, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
   • Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) to create and update electrical drawings for the project.
   • Ensure that all drawings are in compliance with project specifications, local codes, and safety standards.
   • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical designs into the overall project.
   • Review and verify drawings submitted by subcontractors to ensure they align with the overall design intent and project requirements.

4. Collaboration and Coordination:

   • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs, tenders, and BOQs are aligned with the overall project timeline and budget.
   • Provide technical support and guidance during the bidding and construction phases.
   • Address any technical queries related to electrical systems during the tendering process and throughout project execution.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Prepare reports, technical documentation, and specifications for submission to clients or regulatory bodies.
   • Maintain organized records of all tender submissions, BOQs, and drawing revisions.
   • Ensure all project documentation is kept up to date and easily accessible for future reference.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on tendering, BOQ preparation, and technical drawings.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) for electrical drawings.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and construction practices.
  • Familiarity with tendering processes and requirements.
• Project Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing BOQs and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in large-scale commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of local building codes and standards (NEC, IEC, etc.).
• Familiarity with cost estimation software or tools.
• LEED, PE, or other relevant certifications.
