Job Description:
A QC Chemist's job description involves testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards through chemical analysisKey responsibilities include performing qualitative and quantitative tests, documenting results, maintaining lab equipment, and adhering to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines like Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field. 
 
Core responsibilities
    • Perform quality control tests: 
      Analyze raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques to ensure they meet specifications. 
       
  • Maintain lab equipment: 
    Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. 
     
  • Document and report results: 
    Accurately record, interpret, and report all test results, including observations and data, in a timely manner. 
     
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: 
    Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain quality and safety standards. 
     
  • Handle hazardous materials: 
    Safely handle chemical substances and follow all safety protocols to prevent injury or exposure. 
     
  • Investigate deviations: 
    Assist in investigating production deviations or non-conformances to identify root causes and propose corrective actions. 
     
  • Manage laboratory supplies: 
    Prepare and standardize volumetric solutions and reagents, and maintain records for their usage. 
     
Required skills and qualifications
  • Education: 
    A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field is typically required. 
     
  • Technical skills: 
    Proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques such as titration, chromatography (like HPLC/UPLC), and spectrophotometry is essential. 
     
  • Software proficiency: 
    Knowledge of specific software, such as Empower 3 for HPLC systems, may be required depending on the role. 
     
  • Attention to detail: 
    Meticulous and accurate in all aspects of laboratory work and documentation. 
     
  • Problem-solving skills: 
    Ability to troubleshoot issues with both products and equipment. 
     
  • Teamwork: 
    Must be able to collaborate effectively with other chemists and cross-functional teams. 
     
  • Organizational skills: 
    Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized workspace.
