Manager / Sr.Manager - Research & Development (R&D) - Engineering Plastics
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Understand customer needs and requirements to develop right compound to meet
application requirement
Devise and review specifications for products or processes
Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and
monitor their compliance
Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations
Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control
processes
Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback
Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality
standards
Inspect final output and compare properties to requirements
Approve the right products or reject defectives
Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met
Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient
procedures
Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and implement the R&D strategy aligned with the company’s overall
business objectives.
o Identify and prioritize research projects that will drive innovation and
competitive advantage.
o Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration
within the R&D team.
Research & Development:
o Lead the development of new engineering plastics products from concept
through commercialization.
o Oversee experimental design, material selection, and process optimization to
ensure product quality and performance.
o Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory
requirements to guide research initiatives.
Team Management:
o Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing R&D team.
o Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team
members.
o Evaluate team performance and implement strategies to maximize
productivity and innovation.
Innovation & Problem Solving:
o Drive the development of innovative solutions to complex material and
engineering challenges.
o Utilize advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and
resolve technical issues.
o Promote the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance
R&D capabilities.
Qualifications:
Education:
o Masters / Batchelor degree in Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical
Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
o Minimum of 10 to 12 years of experience in R&D within the engineering
plastics or polymer industry.
o Proven track record of successful product development and
commercialization.
o Experience in managing and leading R&D & quality teams.

o Strong leadership and team management abilities.
o Excellent communication and presentation skills.
o Strategic thinking and problem-solving aptitude.
o Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
