Job Description:

The job role of a long-haul international tour consultant typically involves helping clients plan and organize travel itineraries for trips that involve international destinations, often with a focus on longer durations or multiple destinations. Here are some key responsibilities and aspects of the job:

  1. Consulting and Advising: You'll consult with clients to understand their travel preferences, interests, budget, and any specific requirements they may have. Based on this information, you provide expert advice on destinations, itineraries, travel options (flights, accommodations, transportation), and activities.
  2. Itinerary Planning: Designing detailed travel itineraries tailored to the client's needs and preferences. This could involve suggesting specific tourist attractions, cultural experiences, dining options, and accommodations that align with the client's interests and budget.
  3. Booking and Reservations: Making reservations for flights, hotels, rental cars, tours, and other travel services. You'll need to ensure all bookings are accurate and meet the client's requirements.
  4. Handling Logistics: Managing the logistical aspects of travel, such as arranging visas, travel insurance, and ensuring compliance with international travel regulations. You might also assist with currency exchange and providing essential travel information (like local customs, weather conditions, and health advisories).
  5. Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service before, during, and after the trip. This includes addressing client inquiries, troubleshooting issues that arise during travel, and making necessary adjustments to itineraries if circumstances change.
  6. Knowledge of Destinations: Staying updated on travel trends, new destinations, attractions, and local cultures to provide clients with accurate and up-to-date information.
  7. Sales and Marketing: Depending on the organization, you might also be involved in sales and marketing activities, such as promoting travel packages, negotiating with travel suppliers for competitive rates, and generating leads for potential clients.
  8. Problem Solving: Being prepared to handle unexpected situations that can occur during international travel, such as flight cancellations, medical emergencies, or natural disasters, and assisting clients in navigating these challenges.
