Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

 

IT Infrastructure Strategy & Implementation

  • Develop and execute comprehensive IT infrastructure strategies that align with the institution's academic, research, and administrative goals, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability of systems.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives, including the adoption of AI-driven learning tools, adaptive learning technologies, and smart campus solutions.

Network, Systems, & Campus IT Administration

  • Manage the configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of campus-wide network infrastructure, smart classrooms, digital learning solutions, firewalls, and enterprise applications.
  • Oversee campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity, IoT security, VPN access, and student-facing IT services.

IT Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures and data protection protocols to safeguard institutional data, student information, and faculty research.
  • Ensure compliance with higher education regulations such as UGC guidelines, AICTE norms, and data protection laws like the DPDP Act, along with institutional policies for safeguarding student information, including health-related data.

Academic Computing & Research Support

  • Provide IT infrastructure support for high-performance computing (HPC) environments, research data storage, and faculty-led digital projects.
  • Facilitate cloud-based research collaboration tools and secure data-sharing platforms.

Incident Management & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and enforce disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid issue resolution.
  • Establish proactive monitoring of campus IT systems to mitigate risks before they impact operations.

Learning Management Systems (LMS) & Educational Technologies

  • Manage and optimize the deployment of Learning Management Systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), assessment platforms, and digital learning tools.
  • Support faculty and students in the effective use of educational technologies, hybrid learning tools, and collaboration platforms.

IT Service Management & Support

  • Oversee student and faculty IT support services, ensuring helpdesk operations and ticketing systems are optimized for responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Establish service delivery standards and ensure seamless troubleshooting for end-users.

Process Optimization & Documentation

  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate in preparation of Annual Operating Plan, budget planning and provide oversight for IT infra operations, security best practices, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance (RPWD Act, GIGW, WCAG) for institutional websites, LMS, and student portals to support inclusivity for all users.

IT Asset & Vendor Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of IT assets, ensuring efficient lifecycle management, optimal resource allocation, and cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, EdTech providers, service partners, and cloud providers to ensure smooth IT operations and effective contract negotiations.

Training & Digital Literacy Programs

  • Conduct regular training on IT policies, security best practices, and new technologies.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices across the institution.

 

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in IT infrastructure management, with expertise in academic computing, network security, cloud services, and system administration.

 

Technical Expertise & Tools (Preferred):

  • IT Infrastructure & Cloud Management: AWS, Cloudflare, enterprise firewalls, data storage, server virtualization.
  • Enterprise & Educational Applications: Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, and other LMS platforms.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Firewall administration, endpoint security, data privacy compliance, access management tools.
  • Research & High-Performance Computing (HPC): Cloud-based research collaboration tools, secure data-sharing platforms.
  • Business Intelligence & Reporting: Power BI, Smartsheet, data visualization, and analytics tools for institutional decision-making.
  • Automation & Integration: Workflow automations, API integrations, and EdTech process optimization tools.
  • Network & Internet Services: ISP management, VPN configuration, campus-wide Wi-Fi solutions, VoIP systems.

  • Strategic IT Planning & Execution: Ability to develop and implement long-term IT infrastructure strategies tailored for academic environments.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving IT challenges efficiently.
  • Security & Risk Management: Deep knowledge of network security, compliance frameworks, and data protection best practices in an educational setting.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Experience in leading IT infrastructure projects and managing relationships with EdTech vendors and service providers.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to collaborate with faculty, students, teams and other stakeholders while communicating technical concepts in a clear, academic-friendly manner.
  • Innovation & Digital Transformation: Passion for advancing digital education and implementing next-generation learning technologies.
