FABRICATOR FOR POWER PLANT - MECHANICAL - BILASPUR , CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

Fabricator (Also known as Structural Fabricator, Metal Fabricator, or Steel Fabricator)

🏭 Department:

Production / Fabrication / Maintenance / Engineering

🎯 Job Purpose:

To cut, shape, assemble, and weld metal components based on engineering drawings and fabrication plans to produce structural frameworks, machinery parts, or custom metal products in accordance with safety and quality standards.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

1. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions

2. Cut, drill, bend, and weld metal components as per specifications

3. Assemble structural components using hand and power tools

4. Operate fabrication machines such as grinders, shears, cutting torches, and press brakes

5. Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy using measuring tools (e.g., tape, vernier caliper, square)

6. Perform grinding, finishing, or polishing of welded components

7. Maintain a clean and safe workspace and follow all safety regulations

8. Collaborate with welders, fitters, and supervisors to complete fabrication jobs efficiently

9. Report material shortages, equipment issues, or design inconsistencies

10. Assist in installation or on-site assembly, if required

🧠 Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education:

  • ITI in Fabrication / Fitter / Welding / Sheet Metal

  • OR Diploma in Mechanical / Fabrication Engineering

• Skills:

  • Proficient in cutting, welding (MIG/TIG/Arc), and assembling metal parts

  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and interpret measurements

  • Familiar with fabrication tools and machines

  • Basic understanding of metallurgy and materials

  • Good physical stamina and attention to detail

🛠️ Tools & Equipment Knowledge:

• Cutting torches, welding machines

• Angle grinders, drill presses

• Sheet metal tools

• Hydraulic press, bending machines

⚠️ Work Conditions:

• Workshop, factory, or construction site environment

• May require standing for long hours, lifting heavy materials, or working at heights

• Mandatory use of PPE (helmet, gloves, safety shoes, goggles)
