Job Description:

Fitter (also known as Mechanical Fitter, Pipe Fitter, General Fitter, or Structural Fitter depending on specialization)

• Railways / Shipyards / Mining

🎓 Qualification Required:

• ITI Fitter Trade (2 years)

• Or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

• Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment, and safety

🛠️ Key Responsibilities:

1. Assemble and fit components using hand and power tools

2. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals

3. Install, align, and test mechanical systems (pipes, machinery, structures)

4. Cut, drill, shape, and weld metal parts as needed

5. Inspect parts and components for defects or alignment

6. Maintain and repair mechanical systems (preventive and breakdown maintenance)

7. Follow health & safety standards at all times (PPE, SOPs)

8. Work with precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers)

9. Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to improve installation/repair efficiency

10. Keep records of maintenance work and inspections

• Technical/mechanical aptitude

• Physical strength and stamina

• Precision and attention to detail

• Familiarity with tools, equipment, and welding techniques

• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics (optional, but useful)
