BOILER DCS ENGINEER FOR METAL INDUSTRY - OPERION - BILASPUR , CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

The Boiler DCS Engineer is responsible for the configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) used in boiler operations. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of boiler systems through effective control strategies, system monitoring, and coordination with operations and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• DCS Configuration & Maintenance:

  • Configure and maintain DCS systems (e.g., Emerson Ovation, Siemens PCS7, Yokogawa, Honeywell, ABB, etc.).

  • Develop and modify control logic, graphics, and interlocks related to boiler systems.

  • Perform system backups, software updates, and hardware upgrades as needed.

• Boiler Operations Support:

  • Monitor boiler performance, trends, and alarms via DCS.

  • Analyze data and optimize boiler control loops to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.

  • Support plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations from the control room.

• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:

  • Investigate control system malfunctions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Assist instrumentation and electrical teams in troubleshooting field devices (valves, transmitters, actuators).

• Project Involvement:

  • Participate in boiler automation projects, upgrades, and retrofits.

  • Provide DCS input for engineering design changes, commissioning activities, and FAT/SAT testing.

• Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure DCS logic complies with safety standards and operational requirements (e.g., SIL, ISA, NFPA).

  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Instrumentation, or a related field.

Experience:

• Hands-on experience with one or more major DCS platforms.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of boiler operation, thermodynamics, and process control.

• Proficiency in DCS logic programming, HMI design, and loop tuning.

• Familiarity with field instrumentation and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) License

• DCS vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Emerson Ovation, Honeywell Experion)
