Job Description:
A TG (Turbine-Generator) Field Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and monitoring of turbine and generator equipment in a power plant, involving field inspections, equipment monitoring, control room coordination, and adherence to safety protocols like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Key duties include performing field rounds, recording parameters, assisting with start-ups and shutdowns, reporting abnormalities, and executing control room instructions.  
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Field Operations:
    • Conduct regular field rounds to monitor the condition of turbines and generators. 
       
    • Record key parameters such as temperature, pressure, vibration, and flow rates. 
       
    • Assist with the start-up, loading, unloading, and shutdown of turbine systems. 
       
  • Equipment Monitoring:
    • Monitor the operation of the turbine, generator, lube oil system, seal oil system, hydraulic governing system, and cooling systems. 
       
    • Immediately report any abnormalities like leaks, unusual noises, or trip signals. 
       
  • Control Room Coordination:
    • Communicate equipment status and any issues to the Control Room Engineer. 
       
    • Implement field actions based on instructions received from the control room. 
       
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Strictly follow all safety protocols, including the Permit to Work (PTW) system and LOTO procedures. 
       
    • Ensure compliance with safety and operational regulations. 
       
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Aptitude: Mechanical knowledge and ability to understand complex systems. 
     
  • Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills for coordination and reporting. 
     
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges. 
     
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of and adherence to safety procedures. 
     
  • Education: A diploma or degree in a relevant field like Chemical Engineering or related technical field is often preferred. 
     
  • Experience: Experience in a similar role or industry is often a plus.
