Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic & EV Technician to join our growing

team. As our operations expand and diversify, we are in need of a technician capable of

maintaining and repairing both diesel-powered and electric vehicles (EVs). The ideal

candidate will have expertise in diesel engine systems and electric vehicle

technologies, enabling them to provide comprehensive maintenance and repair

services for a wide range of vehicles and heavy equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Diesel Engine Maintenance & Repairs:

  1. Routine Diesel Maintenance:

o Perform regular maintenance on diesel engines, vehicles, and heavy

machinery, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.o Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel-powered

equipment, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.

o Repair or replace components such as fuel injectors, exhaust systems,

cooling systems, and turbochargers.

  1. Diesel Engine Diagnostics:

o Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and identify faults in

diesel-powered engines and machinery.

o Overhaul or rebuild diesel engines as required to restore performance.

o Inspect and test diesel engine components to ensure compliance with

safety and operational standards.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Maintenance & Repairs:

  1. EV System Diagnostics:

o Perform diagnostics on electric vehicles (EVs) to identify issues with

battery management systems, electric motors, power electronics, and

charging systems.

o Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to EV powertrains, battery

packs, regenerative braking systems, and high-voltage circuits.

  1. EV Maintenance & Repair:

o Conduct routine maintenance on EVs, including battery checks, charging

port inspection, tire rotations, and brake system maintenance.

o Replace or repair EV components such as battery packs, inverters,

charging modules, and power control units.

o Ensure the proper operation of electric drivetrain systems, including the

motor, transmission, and electrical wiring.

  1. Battery Management & Charging Systems:

o Inspect, maintain, and repair battery management systems (BMS) to

ensure optimal performance and longevity of EV batteries.

o Perform battery capacity tests and ensure the integrity of charging

systems for safe and efficient vehicle operation.

o Address issues related to fast-charging systems, on-board chargers, and

electrical connections.

 

Preventative Maintenance & Inspections:

  1. Routine Inspections:

o Perform regular inspections on both diesel and electric vehicles to

identify potential problems before they require repairs.

o Conduct thorough checks on key vehicle systems, including drivetrain,

suspension, brakes, and electrical components.

  1. Safety & Compliance:

o Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with

relevant safety standards, environmental regulations, and company

policies.

o Follow industry best practices for EV safety, including handling high

voltage systems and battery maintenance.

Documentation & Recordkeeping:

  1. Service Documentation:

o Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections

performed on diesel and electric vehicles.

o Document all work completed, including parts used, hours worked, and

issues resolved, to ensure proper vehicle maintenance histories.

  1. Reporting:

o Report any major issues or required repairs to the Maintenance Manager,

providing detailed diagnostics and potential solutions.

Collaboration & Team Support:

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure that both diesel and electric

vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians or apprentices in both diesel

and electric vehicle technologies.

  • Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot issues and ensure

equipment readiness for operational use.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in

Diesel Mechanics, EV Technologies, or a related field is preferred.• Experience:

o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a Diesel Mechanic and/or

EV Technician, with hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing

diesel engines and electric vehicles.

o Proven experience with electric vehicle systems, including batteries,

electric motors, charging stations, and high-voltage systems.

  • Technical Skills:

o Strong understanding of diesel engine components, systems, and

troubleshooting techniques.

o Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of electric vehicle

systems, including batteries, electric drivetrains, and charging

infrastructure.

o Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment for both

diesel and electric vehicles.

  • Soft Skills:

o Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to

handle complex mechanical and electrical issues.

o Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage

multiple tasks efficiently.

o Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate

effectively with other technicians and departments.

  • Physical Requirements:

o Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts, and work in varying

environmental conditions (e.g., outdoor work, workshop environments).

o Comfort with physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending,

and using heavy tools.

 

Work Environment:

  • The role involves a combination of indoor workshop-based work and outdoor

field visits to inspect and repair equipment on-site.

  • Occasional after-hours or weekend shifts may be required for emergency repairs

or critical maintenance tasks.• A focus on safety is paramount, with adherence to company safety protocols and

industry regulations for both diesel and EV work.
