Company Overview:

A leading retail group in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is seeking an experienced and strategic Logistics & Supply Chain Head to lead and oversee its end-to-end supply chain operations. The organization is known for its dynamic presence in the retail sector, offering a diverse product portfolio and a strong commitment to quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

This is a top-level, on-site leadership role ideal for professionals with 15 to 20 years of experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position, specifically within logistics and supply chain management. Only candidates with Indian experience, preferably in the retail or consumer goods sector, will be considered.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Design and implement robust supply chain strategies that align with business objectives.

  • Drive long-term supply chain planning for procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.

  • Establish and monitor key metrics and KPIs to ensure efficiency, cost savings, and continuous improvement.

2. Supply Chain Operations Management

  • Oversee and manage end-to-end logistics functions including inbound/outbound transportation, inventory control, warehousing, and last-mile delivery.

  • Maintain optimal stock levels across all retail outlets and warehouses to support business demand.

  • Ensure accurate forecasting and demand planning in collaboration with sales and operations teams.

3. Procurement & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with procurement teams to align sourcing and supply chain activities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, logistics partners, and third-party service providers.

  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and timely deliveries.

4. Inventory & Warehouse Management

  • Supervise warehouse operations and ensure accuracy in inventory records, product handling, and distribution processes.

  • Implement inventory control procedures and cycle counts to minimize loss and improve availability.

  • Introduce best practices in warehousing such as FIFO/LIFO, safety standards, and space utilization.

5. Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and manage a diverse team of supply chain professionals across multiple functions and locations.

  • Foster a performance-driven culture through effective goal setting, mentoring, and training programs.

  • Evaluate team performance regularly and promote continuous development and accountability.

6. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to international trade, logistics, and customs.

  • Identify risks within the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance in all logistics and warehouse operations.

7. Technology & Process Improvement

  • Leverage ERP, WMS, and other digital tools to improve operational efficiency and visibility.

  • Drive automation and process optimization initiatives to support scalability and cost reduction.

  • Use data analytics and dashboards for informed decision-making and predictive planning.


Key Requirements:

  • Experience: 15–20 years in logistics and supply chain, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Industry Preference: Experience in the retail sector (FMCG, consumer goods, or similar industries).

  • Geographic Experience: Must have worked extensively in India; international exposure is a plus.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field. MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of ERP (SAP, Oracle, etc.), WMS, inventory systems, and logistics management tools.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Strong cultural adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
