Accounting manager
Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Accounts Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and support for budgeting and audit processes. The role plays a critical part in managing the financial health of the retail business, including inventory accounting, vendor payments, and store-level expense control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting:

Supervise daily accounting operations including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Ensure timely closure of books of accounts.

Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
2. Inventory and Cost Management:

Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions across stores and warehouses.

Work with the supply chain and merchandising teams to ensure correct valuation of inventory.

Track shrinkage, wastage, and stock adjustments.
3. Compliance & Audit:

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including GST, TDS, income tax, and other applicable laws.

Prepare and support statutory, internal, and tax audits.

Maintain up-to-date documentation of financial policies and procedures.
4. Accounts Payable & Receivable:

Monitor vendor payments, credit terms, and outstanding balances.

Ensure timely billing and collections from channel partners or franchisees.

Reconcile supplier and customer accounts regularly.
5. Budgeting & MIS:

Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

Provide timely MIS reports to management for strategic decision-making.

Analyze store-level profitability, cost centers, and overheads.
6. Team Leadership & Coordination:

Lead a team of accountants and support staff.

Train, guide, and review their work to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Coordinate with other departments such as operations, HR, and IT.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.

CA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

5–8 years of relevant experience in the retail or FMCG industry.

Strong understanding of retail accounting practices, including POS integration and inventory valuation.

Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally) and MS Excel.
