Job Title: Stores Execution Head – Retail Supermarket
Department: Retail Operations
Reports to: COO / Head of Retail / Director – Operations
Job Purpose:
The Stores Execution Head is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily execution and operational efficiency of all supermarket store locations. This role ensures that each store consistently delivers excellent customer service, maintains visual merchandising standards, optimizes inventory, and meets sales and profitability targets. The position serves as a key link between the corporate office and store teams, ensuring flawless execution of business strategies and SOPs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership:
- Oversee day-to-day store operations across all locations, ensuring consistent execution of SOPs, hygiene, safety, and customer service standards.
- Drive in-store execution of promotions, pricing, stock availability, and visual merchandising.
- Monitor and improve operational KPIs including sales, footfall, conversion rates, shrinkage, and customer satisfaction.
2. Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of Area Managers, Store Managers, and frontline staff.
- Develop training plans and performance reviews to ensure high productivity and staff engagement.
- Ensure stores have adequate manpower and staffing structures to meet customer demand.
3. Store Performance Monitoring:
- Regularly visit store locations to assess performance, compliance, and execution quality.
- Analyze sales trends, stock movements, and customer feedback to identify improvement areas.
- Create and implement action plans to close performance gaps.
4. Execution of Business Strategies:
- Translate corporate strategy into operational plans at the store level.
- Coordinate new store openings, refurbishments, and layout changes.
- Ensure timely execution of marketing campaigns, festivals, and promotional events.
5. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Ensure stores maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize out-of-stock situations, and reduce overstocking.
- Liaise with the supply chain and merchandising teams to streamline replenishment and delivery schedules.
6. Compliance & Audit Readiness:
- Ensure all stores adhere to company policies, government regulations, health & safety norms, and audit standards.
- Conduct regular operational audits and spot checks to ensure compliance and address discrepancies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in retail operations, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or regional head role.
- Strong knowledge of retail execution, store layouts, merchandising, and customer service practices.
- Proven track record of multi-store management in a supermarket or hypermarket environment.
- Proficient in retail software/ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
