Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Agriculture Farming Officer for our Malawi operations. The ideal candidate should have proven expertise in managing large-scale commercial farms, with hands-on experience in cultivating diverse crops such as Macadamia, Soybeans, Groundnuts, and others suited to African soil and climate. The candidate should have a deep understanding of African agronomy practices, pest control, irrigation, soil health, and crop rotation suited to the region.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end farming operations across multiple crop varieties

  • Develop and implement seasonal crop plans based on soil and weather conditions in Malawi

  • Ensure high productivity and quality yields of key crops like Macadamia, Soybeans, etc.

  • Manage and supervise agricultural teams, including farm laborers and junior agronomists

  • Monitor and evaluate soil health and recommend soil improvement practices

  • Design and manage irrigation systems suitable for the farm's scale and terrain

  • Implement sustainable farming practices, ensuring minimal environmental impact

  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams for seeds, fertilizers, and equipment

  • Maintain strict compliance with agricultural policies and safety regulations

  • Use data-driven approaches and modern technology to optimize farming practices

  • Liaise with local authorities, agricultural bodies, and community stakeholders


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in commercial farming in Africa, preferably Malawi or neighboring regions

  • Proven success in cultivating crops like Macadamia, Soybeans, Groundnuts, Maize, etc.

  • In-depth knowledge of African climate conditions, pests, and diseases

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Experience with mechanized and sustainable farming methods

  • Familiarity with modern farming tools, software, and GPS-based systems is an advantage

  • Excellent communication skills in English
