Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Supplier Relationships: This includes building and maintaining strong
relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely
delivery of high-quality goods and services.
Oversee the Purchasing Process: This involves managing purchase orders,
reviewing clean sheet costing, approving vendor payments, and ensuring
compliance with company policies and procedures.
Analyse Market Trends: This involves staying informed about market
conditions, price fluctuations, and supplier performance to make informed
purchasing decision.
Manage Inventory Levels: This involves monitoring inventory levels,
forecasting demand, and ensuring that the right amount of materials is on
hand to meet production needs.
Negotiate Contracts and Prices: This involves negotiating favourable terms
with suppliers, including price, delivery times, and payment terms.
Coordinate with Internal Teams: This involves working with other
departments, such as finance, production, and engineering, to ensure that
purchasing activities meet their needs.
Ensure Cost-Effectiveness: This involves identifying opportunities to reduce
costs without compromising quality or service.
Required Skills and Experience:
Strong Negotiation Skills:
The ability to negotiate favourable contracts with suppliers is essential.
Excellent Communication Skills:
The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders is
crucial.
Analytical Skills:
The ability to analyse market trends, supplier performance, and inventory levels is
important.
Leadership Skills:
If supervising a team, the ability to lead, motivate, and train employees is essential.
Experience in Purchasing or Procurement:
Purchase manager will have 12-14 years of experience in purchasing or
procurement roles.
Knowledge of Relevant Laws and Regulations:
Understanding relevant laws and regulations related to purchasing and procurement
is important.
Proficiency in Purchasing Software and Systems:
Experience with purchasing software and systems, such as SAP or ERP is required.
