QC Engineer – Machining & Structural Fabrication
Job Description:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control (QC) Engineer –
Machining & Structural Fabrication with 3–7 years of hands-on experience in quality
inspection for crane components or heavy structural fabrication. The role involves thorough
inspection of machined components and fabricated structures to ensure compliance with
quality standards, design specifications, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts and fabricated
structural components.
Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, machining tolerances, GD&T, and
welding symbols.
Conduct dimensional inspection using standard instruments (Vernier, micrometer,
height gauge, bore gauge, dial indicators, etc.).
Inspect structural welds, fit-ups, and post-weld conditions for compliance with WPS
and design drawings.
Verify alignment, tolerances, hole patterns, surface finish, and other critical
parameters.
Coordinate with machining and fabrication teams to resolve non-conformities and
improve quality.
Ensure documentation such as inspection reports, NCRs, corrective action reports,
and material traceability is maintained.
Perform visual and dimensional inspections during various stages: raw material, in-
process, and final inspection.
Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions
(CAPA).
Assist in customer inspections, audits, and third-party inspections when required.
Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and internal QMS protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
3–7 years of relevant experience in machining and structural fabrication
inspection, preferably in crane or heavy equipment manufacturing.
Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and instruments.
Strong knowledge of welding inspection techniques and fabrication processes.
Familiarity with NDT methods (visual, UT, DP) is an advantage.
Good understanding of GD&T and machining tolerances.
Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings accurately.
Knowledge of quality tools, root cause analysis, and documentation procedures.
Proficient in MS Office and experience with ERP/QMS software preferred.
Strong communication and reporting skills.
Preferred Certifications:
CSWIP / AWS-CWI (for welding inspection) – optional but preferred.
Training in ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or related QC standards is a plus.
