Job Summary:
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire workshop operations, ensuring timely and quality service delivery, managing the workforce, and maintaining customer satisfaction. This role involves coordinating between the service team, customers, and management while optimizing efficiency and adhering to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day workshop operations, including vehicle/service scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation.
Supervise, train, and mentor workshop staff (technicians, service advisors, and helpers) to achieve high productivity and quality standards.
Monitor and maintain service quality, ensuring all repairs and maintenance meet company and manufacturer standards.
Plan and manage spare parts inventory to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workshop.
Handle customer complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.
Prepare reports on workshop performance, productivity, revenue, and employee performance for management review.
Coordinate with service advisors for job card management, invoicing, and billing accuracy.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop efficiency and reduce downtime.
Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and machinery in good working condition.
Monitor labor costs, expenses, and profitability of the workshop.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Sound knowledge of vehicle/service operations, maintenance, and repair processes.
Ability to analyze performance metrics and drive improvements.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of inventory management and safety protocols.
Proficiency in workshop management software (if applicable).
Educational & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in workshop/service management, preferably in [automobile/industrial equipment] workshops.
Prior experience in managing a team and handling operational and administrative responsibilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Workshop turnaround time (TAT)
Customer satisfaction ratings
Revenue and profitability targets
Employee performance and training compliance
Inventory accuracy and utilization
