Job Description:

 

A Legal Officer provides legal advice and support to an organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulationsThey draft and review legal documents, manage legal risks, and assist with various legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and litigation. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Legal Advice and Support: Providing legal guidance to the organization on a wide range of issues. 
     
  • Compliance: Ensuring the organization adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. 
     
  • Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements. 
     
  • Legal Research: Conducting research and analysis on legal issues to provide informed advice. 
     
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with the organization's operations. 
     
  • Litigation Management: Assisting with the management and resolution of legal disputes. 
     
  • Policy and Procedure Review: Reviewing and advising on the legal implications of internal policies and procedures. 
     
  • Training and Development: Providing legal training and guidance to staff on relevant legal topics. 
     
  • Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may affect the organization. 
     
Examples of Specific Tasks:
  • Reviewing and advising on Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), contracts, and tender documents.
  • Monitoring ongoing legal cases and providing updates to management.
  • Liaising with relevant departments to ensure legal risks are addressed.
  • Preparing reports on legal matters for management review.
  • Assisting with corporate governance and compliance matters.
  • Managing and maintaining legal records and documentation.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to ensure legal compliance. 
     
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations. 
     
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze legal issues and provide clear, concise advice. 
     
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
     
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate and draft legal documents.
