Job Title: Sr. Power BI Developer 

Reports To:  Manager, Power BI 

Department: Enterprise Data and Analytics 
 
Do note, the senior-level candidates (5+ yrs of Exp) should have experience in Tabular Editor with at least one of these set of external tools (DAX Studio, and SSMS).

As a successful Senior Power BI Developer, you need to be passionate about data, making sense of it, and presenting it in ways that provides better decision-making. You are required to be exceptionally detail-oriented, but you don’t lose sight of the big picture. You are familiar and comfortable with analytics terminology and reporting. You are exceptional at data modeling, you have extensive experience presenting data and information in a way that resonates with broad groups of people, and you demonstrate the ability to follow specifications while adapting to ensure the customer gets what they need. Partnering with different analytical team members and the business excites you. Your mission will be to help to enable the enterprise to make bigger, bolder decisions faster. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop and Maintain Power BI Solutions: 

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and apps. 

• Create and manage complex Power BI semantic models. Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all Power BI solutions 

• Document Power BI solutions, including data models, reports, and processes. Create and maintain technical documentation for reference and training. 

• Performance Optimization 

• Optimize Power BI semantic models and reports for performance and usability. 

• Implement best practices for data modeling and report development. A key part of this is working with data engineers to ensure seamless data flow into Snowflake then Power BI.  

• Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues in Power BI solutions. 

• Security and Compliance 

• Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements. 

• Manage user access and permissions in Power BI. 

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

• Collaborate with business intelligence solutions analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand Power BI needs. 

• Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to explain complex data concepts. 

• Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and reports.  

• Continuous Improvement: 

• Continuously improve Power BI solutions based on user feedback and business needs  

• Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and industry trends. Participate in Power BI community forums and knowledge sharing sessions. 

Job Requirements and Skills: 

• Education: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 

• Experience: 

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Power BI Development roles requiring the development of foundational Power BI semantic models used by multiple business teams and experience with tools like deployment pipelines and Tabular Editor. 

• Proven track record of managing Power BI solutions within a cross-functional environment. 

• Skills and Abilities: 

• Solution Design: Strong ability to take business requirements and turn it into the right Power BI solution design, accounting for existing models and reports, available data, and capacity constraints. 

• Solution Execution: Ability to lead and manage Power BI solution execution, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards. 

• Solution Review: Ability to review Power BI solution designs and milestones, mentoring other Power BI Developers to ensure high quality solutions.  

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Other Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL is required. Experience with Snowflake is highly preferred. 

• Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate complex problems and provide actionable solutions that drive business value. 

• Agility and Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot as needed to meet business demands.
