Job Description:
An Instrument Engineer designs, develops, installs, and maintains the electronic and mechanical devices (instruments and control systems) that monitor and control machinery and industrial processes. Key responsibilities include analyzing existing equipment for inefficiencies, creating schematics and technical manuals, testing new equipment, performing routine maintenance, ensuring safety compliance, and managing projects to optimize system performance and accuracy.
Core Responsibilities

Design & Development:Create and develop new instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes, often using CAD software for schematics and diagrams.

Installation & Maintenance:Install, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on instruments and systems to ensure they are operating correctly and efficiently.

System Monitoring & Optimization:Monitor process variables like temperature, pressure, and flow, analyze data, and make adjustments to improve system performance.

Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems and automated machinery.

Technical Documentation:Prepare technical documents, reports, and user manuals to explain device operation and system performance.

Compliance:Ensure that instrumentation and control systems comply with health, safety, and industry standards.

Team Management:Supervise technicians and other junior engineers, and train staff on equipment operation.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of physics, engineering, math, and data management.
- Proficiency with control system software, such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and DCS (Distributed Control System).
- Ability to use CAD software for designing system layouts and diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
