Job Description:
An instrumentation technician installs, maintains, calibrates, and repairs various measurement and control instruments in industries like manufacturing, energy, and food processing. They ensure the accurate and efficient operation of processes by working with sensors, valves, controllers, and computer systems, requiring skills in electronics, mechanics, troubleshooting, and reading technical diagrams. The role involves diagnosing and resolving equipment problems, performing risk assessments, and working with engineers to optimize system performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Installation:Install new instruments, electrical components, conduit, and wiring for process control systems.

Maintenance:Perform routine checks, general maintenance, and repairs on instruments to ensure their functionality and accuracy.

Calibration:Calibrate instruments by testing them against known values to ensure they provide correct data and function efficiently.

Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve issues with electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and microprocessor-based control systems.

Repair & Replacement:Repair or replace defective parts and components within the instrumentation and control systems.

System Integration:Work with engineers and operators to integrate instruments into plant equipment and processes.
Key Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills:Strong understanding of electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, microprocessors, and electrical theory.

Reading Technical Documents:Ability to interpret and work from electrical and mechanical diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals.

Problem-Solving:Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify and solve complex control process issues.

Computer Skills:Ability to use and program computer systems to control and analyze control loops.

Mechanical Skills:Proficient in using various tools like wrenches, tubing cutters, and other mechanical equipment.

Safety Awareness:Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous materials and high-voltage equipment, and to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
