Job Description: Mold Designer (Plastics)
Qualification Required
• CIPET-PDPMD / IGTR / NTTF / GTTC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate effectively as a
positive team member.
Technical Expertise
• Proficiency in plastic injection mold design, including hot runner systems, for industries
such as automotive, medical, electrical switchgear, and pumps.
• High proficiency in 3D CAD design (Siemens NX preferred; Solid Edge, Creo also
acceptable).
• Experience designing jigs & fixtures.
• Hands-on knowledge of Design Controls, verification & validation, and high-volume
manufacturing processes.
• Thorough understanding of part geometry, moldability & capability studies, tolerance
analysis, GD&T.
• Strong grasp of plastic materials and their behavior in molding applications.
• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Develop 3D models of plastic parts and injection molds using Siemens NX and related
CAD tools.
• Generate core and cavity designs, mold bases, ejector systems, cooling channels, gating,
and runner systems.
• Utilize automation tools (e.g., NX Mold Wizard) for efficient and accurate mold
generation.
• Perform mold flow analysis, part validation, and simulation to ensure manufacturability
and optimize design.
• Conduct mold optimization, debugging, and design changes with fast turnaround while
maintaining design integrity.
• Prepare technical documentation, 2D drawings, mold specifications, and checklists.
• Review and revise drawings for dimensional accuracy and tolerance stack-ups.
• Provide technical support to production regarding process issues, tooling
improvements, and quality problems.
• Design secondary operation fixtures and support process development.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, analysis, production) to
align mold designs with project requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality mold designs while adapting to changes in scope,
priorities, or environment.

Required Skills
• Deep expertise in Siemens NX mold design, including parting line and core/cavity
development.
• Experience with CAD/CAM integration for downstream processes like toolpath
generation and machining.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding principles and industry best practices.
• Ability to identify and resolve design issues such as undercuts, ribs, wall thickness
variations, and flow challenges.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience
2–4 years of experience in plastic injection mold design and related tooling
