Job Description:
A Stores Manager in an aluminum plant is responsible for managing inventory, raw materials, and finished goods, ensuring smooth operations by tracking incoming/outgoing stock, optimizing inventory control procedures, and maintaining accurate recordsKey duties include conducting regular stock checks to identify shortages, placing orders for replenishment, using software to monitor inventory levels, analyzing data to forecast future needs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
  • Inventory Control:
    Devise and implement strategies to control and optimize inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished aluminum products.
  • Stock Management:
    Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials, conducting daily reconciliations and regular physical stock checks to identify discrepancies and ensure stock accuracy.
  • Material Planning:
    Ensure adequate supplies of raw materials and components are available to meet the production demands of the aluminum plant, preventing shortages or excessive surplus.
  • Supplier Management:
    Work with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries of necessary materials and track compliance with agreed-upon terms.
  • System Enhancement:
    Utilize and enhance the functionality of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and other inventory management software to ensure complete and accurate data.
  • Data Analysis:
    Analyze stock data, consumption patterns, and market trends to forecast future needs and optimize ordering processes.
  • Reporting:
    Provide regular reports to management on stock levels, inventory issues, and overall warehouse performance.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure all warehouse operations and inventory practices comply with internal company policies and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO audits).
  • Warehouse Operations:
    Oversee the physical storage of materials, ensuring efficient organization, proper handling, and safety protocols are followed.
  • Cost Optimization:
    Identify and suggest cost-improvement practices within the store and inventory management process.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience:
    Proven experience in inventory management or a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial setting. 
     
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency with inventory management software, data analysis, and forecasting methods. 
     
  • Analytical Skills:
    Ability to analyze data to identify trends, forecast future needs, and solve problems related to inventory. 
     
  • Organizational Skills:
    Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities to maintain accurate stock information. 
     
  • Communication:
    Excellent communication skills to report findings, coordinate with other departments (e.g., production), and manage a team. 
     
  • Compliance Knowledge:
    Familiarity with industry standards and audit requirements for inventory management.
