Job Title: Partner – GST & Indirect Tax
Job Location – Noida/ Gurgaon
Key Responsibilities
1. Practice Leadership & Strategic Growth
• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the GST & Indirect Tax vertical.
• Drive P&L ownership – set revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
• Expand the firm’s service portfolio in emerging indirect tax areas.
• Represent the practice in boardroom discussions, industry associations, and policy forums.
2. Revenue Generation & Business Origination
• Originate large-scale mandates through networking and relationship management.
• Build and maintain CXO-level relationships with leading corporates and MNCs.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities with Audit, Direct Tax, and Advisory service lines.
• Drive proposal development, pitch presentations, and negotiations.
3. Client Advisory & Regulatory Advocacy
• Provide strategic GST advisory on complex transactions and cross-border supply chains.
• Lead advance ruling applications, regulatory representations, and departmental interactions.
• Monitor legislative amendments and policy changes to ensure proactive client updates.
• Act as a trusted advisor for government representation and advocacy.
4. Litigation Strategy & Dispute Resolution
• Develop litigation strategies for high-stakes GST disputes.
• Represent or supervise representation before tax authorities, appellate forums, and tribunals.
• Conduct pre-assessment audits, GST health checks, and compliance reviews.
5. Knowledge Capital & Thought Leadership
• Publish whitepapers, technical articles, and regulatory insights.
• Spearhead webinars, panel discussions, and industry seminars.
• Collaborate with Global for knowledge-sharing on global indirect tax trends.
6. Team Capability Building & Talent Development
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of indirect tax specialists.
• Conduct structured training programs and technical upskilling.
• Develop a succession pipeline for future leadership.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Integrated Solutions
• Work with Direct Tax, Risk Advisory, and Consulting teams for integrated client solutions.
• Support M&A transactions, supply chain restructuring, and due diligence from an indirect tax perspective.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Educational Qualifications
• Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory; additional qualifications such as LLB or MBA (Finance/Taxation) will be preferred.
Professional Experience
• 15+ years of experience in Indirect Tax (GST, Customs, Excise), with at least 5+ years in a leadership/Partner/Director role in a Big4 or top-tier consulting firm.
• Proven expertise in GST legislation, litigation, and strategic tax advisory across industries. • Strong experience in business development and revenue origination.
Core Competencies
• Excellent client relationship management and CXO-level engagement skills. • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, industry dynamics, and risk management. • Strong leadership, networking, and negotiation abilities. • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and drive thought leadership initiatives.
