Key responsibilities

Splicing and repairing:Joining conveyor belt ends using hot and cold vulcanization, or mechanical fasteners, to repair damage and create continuous belts.

Maintenance:Performing preventive and breakdown maintenance on conveyor systems, including alignment, tensioning, and lubrication, to ensure smooth operation.

Inspection and monitoring:Regularly inspecting belt conditions, joints, and idlers to identify and report wear, cuts, or other damages.

Operation of equipment:Safely operating specialized equipment like vulcanizing presses, belt cutters, and grinders.

Record keeping:Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and the condition of belts and joints.

Safety compliance:Adhering to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, while performing maintenance tasks.

Support and collaboration:Assisting other maintenance personnel and supporting overall plant maintenance as needed.
Qualifications

Education:ITI or Diploma in Mechanical or a relevant trade.

Experience:Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in the steel, sponge iron, cement, or mining industry.

Skills:Proficiency in conveyor belt splicing techniques (hot, cold, steel cord), basic mechanical skills, and the ability to use hand and power tools.
