Job Description:

The Computer Embroidery Designer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing embroidery designs using specialized software. The role involves converting artwork into digital embroidery files, ensuring precision, thread efficiency, and design quality suitable for production on embroidery machines.


Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design Creation & Digitizing:

    • Create and digitize embroidery designs using software such as Wilcom, Tajima DG/ML by Pulse, Brother PE-Design, or similar tools.

    • Convert vector or raster artwork (e.g., logos, graphics, motifs) into stitch files (.DST, .EMB, etc.).

    • Select appropriate stitch types (satin, fill, run stitch) and adjust densities for optimal results.

  • Sampling & Quality Control:

    • Coordinate with machine operators to produce sample runs of embroidery designs.

    • Inspect embroidery samples for accuracy, thread breaks, alignment, and fabric compatibility.

    • Make necessary design adjustments to improve efficiency and appearance.

  • File & Color Management:

    • Manage color sequencing, thread brand matching, and design layering.

    • Maintain an organized digital library of embroidery files and artwork references.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with merchandisers, production teams, and clients to understand design requirements.

    • Offer design suggestions based on fabric type, stitch limitations, and production feasibility.

  • Technical Support:

    • Troubleshoot design-related machine issues such as thread trimming, density errors, or misalignment.

    • Update designs according to feedback from production or clients.


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in embroidery digitizing software (e.g., Wilcom, Tajima, Barudan, Bernina, or Pulse).

  • Strong understanding of stitch types, thread tensions, and embroidery machine operations.

  • Knowledge of different fabrics and their embroidery behavior.

  • Creativity, attention to detail, and precision in design work.

  • Ability to handle multiple design projects and meet deadlines.

  • Basic understanding of graphic design tools (CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop) is an advantage.


Educational Qualification:

  • Diploma / Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, or related field.

  • Certification in embroidery digitizing or CAD design is preferred.
