Job Profile

• Experience: 15–20 years in Heavy Steel Structure / Equipment Manufacturing Industry
• Qualification: B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Technical overview & Process Management
• Indepth knowledge of fabrication process, welding technologies (e.g. SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW), product structure nesting, metal cutting technologies, bending, metal forming and deforming etc.
• Ensure effective WPS/PQR/Welder Qualification implementation in accordance with applicable codes.
• Indepth Knowledge of Conventional, High precision CNC machines including automated lathes and multi axis machining centres.
• Indepth Knowledge of Assembly and Sub-Assembly process along with  utilisations of jigs and fixtures ensuring that the finish product is accurate, repeatable and consistent.
• Indepth knowledge of Heat Treatment processes (Hardening, Tempering, Annealing) in order to achieve required strength and fragmentation characteristics based on microstructure.
• In-depth understanding of engineering drawings, including welding symbols, machining symbols, tolerances, GD&T and sectional views.
• Oversee all production activity including material handling, cutting, welding, fitting, maching, assembly, surface treatment process
• Guide teams in fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly of Building structures, Technological structures and equipment for core sector industries, ensuring optimal utilisation of all the available resources manpower, machine, method and material.
• Uphold and enforce all stringent quality control standards, applicable ASME, AWS D1.1, IS Codes, and customer specifications throughout the manufacturing process ensuring all product meet required specifications.
• Oversee NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) processes such as VT, UT, RT, MPI, and DP to ensure weld integrity and product quality.
• Lead root cause analysis of non-conformances and initiate continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Production & Planning
• Manage production schedules to ensure all projects are completed on time and no undue liquidated damages are deducted and  meet customer specifications.
• Oversee procurement and inventory of raw material and consumables (Min/max).
• Oversee capital expenditure planning, execution for facility upgradation.
• Proven track record of managing large scale fabrication work orders and workforce of 1500 employees.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate diverse team.
• Plan and allocate manpower, materials, and machine resources for efficient workflow.
3. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Promote safe work practices in fabrication, machining, and assembly areas.
• Conduct regular safety audits and enforce corrective measures.
4. Continuous Improvement & Cost Control
• Implement lean manufacturing and 5S practices across plant operations.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization.
• Track and analyse key operational metrics such as rework, rejection rates, and resource utilization.

Preferred Background

• Extensive hands-on experience in heavy fabrication and equipment manufacturing.
• Strong technical knowledge of ASME Sections (II, VIII, IX), IS 2062 and related standards, and NDT methods.
• Proven ability to lead plant operations with focus on quality, productivity, and safety.
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation such as WPS, PQR, ITP, and QAP.
• Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
