Job Description:
A 2nd Class Mines Manager is a crucial supervisory role responsible for managing daily, shift-based mining operations, ensuring safety compliance (DGMS/MMR), and achieving production targets. Key duties include directing excavation, drilling, blasting, HEMM utilization, and managing site workforce in compliance with statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Overseeing day-to-day mining activities to meet production, development, and maintenance targets.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforcing strict adherence to mine safety regulations (DGMS, MMR 1961), conducting inspections, and maintaining statutory records.
- Production & Development: Supervising drilling, blasting, hauling, crushing, and de-watering activities to achieve optimal production.
- Workforce Supervision: Leading and training staff, including supervisors, machine operators (HEMM), and contract labor, ensuring discipline.
- Resource Optimization: Monitoring equipment performance, ensuring better availability of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM), and managing raw material movement.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Valid Second Class Mines Manager Certificate of Competency (Coal or Metal) issued by the Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS).
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mining Engineering.
- Experience: 3–8 years of experience in mechanized/semi-mechanized underground or opencast mines.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in mine planning (AutoCAD, Surpac), safety management systems, and drill/blast design.
