Production Engineer - 3D Printing
Job Description:
Role Overview
As a Production Engineer in 3D Printing, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all 3D printing operations from file preparation to post-processing and final finishing. You will collaborate closely with design and quality teams to ensure smooth production flow, maximise machine uptime, and ensure on-time delivery of quality parts.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily 3D printing operations across various technologies (FDM, SLA, resin printers).
Prepare files for printing, including slicing, support generation, and material selection.
Monitor print quality, troubleshoot printing issues, and optimise print parameters.
Schedule print jobs and maintain detailed production logs for efficient machine utilisation.
Perform post-processing tasks such as support removal, sanding, assembly, and finishing.
Maintain and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for 3D printers.
Collaborate with design engineers to recommend improvements for printable designs.
Manage inventory of filaments, resins, and spare parts, and assist procurement planning.
Support scaling production capacity and workflow optimisation initiatives.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, and DLP.
Proficiency with slicing software such as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Lychee, and Chitubox.
Basic familiarity with CAD software like Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalents.
Hands-on mechanical and electrical skills for printer maintenance.
Excellent organisational and documentation skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
Qualifications
Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, or related field.
