Position               : Procurement Engineer

Qualification       : Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

Experience          : Minimum 2–4 years of experience in procurement or sourcing of mechanical materials, components, or equipment in a manufacturing or engineering environment

Salary Budget     : 5 – 6 LPA

Job Location       : Vadodara (Gorwa)

 

Job Purpose:

The Procurement Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring mechanical components, raw materials, equipment, and services required for manufacturing and project activities. The role requires technical knowledge of mechanical systems and materials, combined with strong commercial and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between engineering and purchasing functions to ensure cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials in a timely manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify and develop reliable suppliers for mechanical parts, assemblies, fabrication items, and engineering consumables.
  • Prepare and float Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluate supplier offers both technically and commercially.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms to achieve cost savings and favorable contract conditions.
  • Coordinate with Design, Production, and Quality departments to ensure materials meet technical specifications.
  • Maintain and update approved vendor lists, supplier evaluations, and procurement documentation.
  • Generate and process Purchase Orders (POs) accurately through ERP or procurement software.
  • Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery and take corrective action where needed.
  • Support cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, ethical standards, and industry compliance requirements.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication, machining, casting, fasteners, and industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, material specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform cost analysis, vendor evaluation, and technical comparison of supplier offers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and documentation control.
