Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Pre-Sales Support

    • Understand customers’ construction-equipment needs (excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, etc.).

    • Provide technical expertise: translate customer requirements into JD product solutions.

    • Prepare and present product demonstrations, technical proposals, and solution designs.

    • Work with internal teams (product, engineering) to tailor offerings to customer needs.

  2. Sales & Business Development

    • Engage with dealers/distributors and end customers to drive sales.

    • Support sales team by qualifying leads, estimating costs, and building business cases.

    • Participate in RFP (Request for Proposal) response process: scope, specification, costing.

    • Negotiate technical terms, scope of work, and ensure feasibility of the solution.

  3. Customer Relationship & After-Sales

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers (contractors, fleet owners).

    • Serve as a trusted advisor: explain technical advantages, ROI, and performance.

    • Provide post-sales support or handover to service teams, ensuring the technical solution works well for the customer.

    • Train dealers or customer staff on how to use JD technology or attachments effectively, if needed.

  4. Market & Product Feedback

    • Collect customer feedback on JD machines and attachments.

    • Monitor competitor products and market trends.

    • Work with the product or R&D team to communicate customer needs or pain points.

    • Help define product enhancements based on field requirements.

  5. Reporting & Forecasting

    • Prepare sales forecasts, technical assessments, and business plans.

    • Maintain CRM records and documentation for proposals, customer interactions, and technical specs.


Key Skills & Experience Needed

  • Engineering Background: Mechanical, Construction Management, or similar engineering discipline (degree preferred).

  • Technical Knowledge of construction machinery: hydraulics, engines, attachments, operating principles.

  • Sales Acumen: Ability to work with sales teams, negotiate, and close technically complex deals.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for technical presentations and proposals.

  • Customer-Facing Skills: Comfortable interacting with contractors, project managers, and dealer teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to craft custom solutions and think on your feet.

  • Travel Readiness: Expect field visits to customers or dealers; many sales-engineer roles involve travel.

  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and possibly CRM tools.
