Job Description:
Role Overview The Head/ Lead Mining will be responsible for leading the mining and metals strategy and operations, encompassing exploration, mine planning, execution, safety, compliance, and business strategy. The role requires a strong blend of techno-commercial acumen, technical expertise, operational leadership, and strategic approach to ensure sustainable, efficient, and profitable mining operations. The incumbent will also play a critical role in client relationship management, business development, and driving operational excellence initiatives in alignment with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Mine Planning & Operations • Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine plans, production schedules, and sequencing. • Optimize drilling, blasting, and extraction methods to maximize ore recovery. • Contribute to feasibility studies, project evaluations, and economic assessments. • Recommend improvements to mine designs, layouts, and operational practices for efficiency and safety. • Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations across all mining activities. 2. Strategic & Business Leadership • Market intelligence and know-how. • Develop and execute mining strategies that align with corporate goals and industry best practices. • Lead transformation initiatives, including Operations Excellence, Process Optimization, Technology & Digital adoption, and Sustainability programs. • Analyse industry trends, market opportunities, and regulatory frameworks to support strategic decision-making. • Drive business development through preparation of proposals, RFP responses, and active participation in client engagements. • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring longterm partnerships. 3. People & Stakeholder Management • Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary team. • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, regulatory bodies, and local communities.
Manage talent pipeline and succession planning to build future leadership within the mining function. Qualifications & Skills • Bachelors or Masters degree in mining engineering or related field. • 10+ years of progressive experience in mining operations, planning, and/or consulting, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role. • Proven track record in leading large-scale mining projects (OC/UG in Coal/Metal) with demonstrated operational and commercial success. • Knowledge of Indian mining regulations, safety and environmental laws, and global best practices. • Experience in strategy consulting, business development, and client relationship management will be an added advantage. • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to work in challenging conditions with extensive travel, including remote mining sites.
