R&D Engineer – CT/PT Transformers

 

Job Summary

We are looking for an innovative and technically strong R&D Engineer with proven experience in the transformers industry, specifically in CT–PT (Current Transformer & Potential Transformer) manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in new product development, CT–PT testing, and a deep understanding of transformer design standards and testing processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development initiatives for CTs, PTs, and combined units.

  • Research, design, and develop advanced transformer components and technologies.

  • Perform feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and prototype development.

  • Oversee and execute CT–PT testing, including type tests, routine tests, and performance validation.

  • Develop detailed technical specifications, drawings, and documentation.

  • Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.

  • Identify improvements in product performance, materials, reliability, and cost optimization.

  • Collaborate with Quality, Testing, Purchase, and Sales teams for product enhancement and commercialization.

  • Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards and customer requirements.

  • Stay updated with latest industry trends, materials, and technological advancements.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech/M.E.).

  • Mandatory: Experience in the transformers industry.

  • Must-have:

    • Hands-on experience in CT–PT manufacturing

    • Expertise in CT–PT testing procedures

    • Strong involvement in new product development

  • Knowledge of transformer design principles, insulation systems, winding design, and material selection.

  • Proficiency in design and simulation tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or similar).

  • Strong analytical, innovative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with type testing at NABL-accredited labs.

  • Knowledge of quality standards, reliability engineering, and product certification processes.

  • Exposure to modern R&D methodologies (DFMEA, DOE, etc.).
