Staff Accountant (US Tax & US GAAP) based out of Philippines
Job Description:
Location: Remote (Work From Home)
Work Hours: Start at 7:00 AM Philippine Standard Time
Reports To: Senior Accountant / Supervisor / Manager / Principal
Role Summary
The Staff Accountant will handle a wide range of accounting and tax assignments under the supervision of senior team members. The role includes preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, bookkeeping, financial statements, and various compliance filings. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare individual and business income tax returns with complete workpapers.

Prepare annual compliance forms, including 1099s and W-2s.

Prepare monthly cash-basis or tax-basis financial statements.

Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and general accounting tasks.

Accurately calculate accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other journal entries.

Assist senior team members in compilation and review engagements, including fieldwork.

Communicate directly with clients to collect required information and clarify issues.

Assist in planning and scheduling engagements when assigned.

Handle sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, and excise tax filings when required.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous learning initiatives.

Working Conditions

Fully remote position.

Workday begins at 7:00 AM Philippine Standard Time for sufficient overlap with the US team.

Overtime required from January to April 15 (may exceed 55 hours per week).

Occasional overtime throughout the year based on workload.

All equipment (laptop, monitors, etc.) provided.

Education, Experience & Skills Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
-
2–4 years of experience preparing individual and business tax returns.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and personal/business taxation.

Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with tax and accounting software such as CCH Axcess or ProSystem fx (preferred).

CPA or EA license preferred, or actively pursuing certification.
