Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities
In the pharmaceutical industry, a Project Engineer's main responsibilities involve ensuring the technical work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with stringent regulatory standards (like cGMP).
- Project Planning and Execution: Developing detailed project schedules, timelines, and work plans; coordinating project activities from concept to completion.
- Technical Support and Problem Solving: Reviewing and approving technical designs and engineering plans, providing on-site technical support, and troubleshooting engineering or site-related problems.
- Quality and Safety Assurance: Ensuring all work meets company standards, safety rules, and legal regulations, including conducting regular inspections and quality checks. This involves understanding and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Maintenance Coordination: Assisting with installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of process and utility equipment, such as HVAC systems, water systems (PW/WFI), boilers, and production machinery.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing comprehensive design documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), project status reports, and managing change control, deviations, and incidents.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Coordinating with designers, contractors, vendors, and clients, and managing resources and material procurement
Required Skills

- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design and project management tools like AutoCAD, MS Project, and potentially ERP/MRP systems.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of industry standards, safety codes, and cGMP regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
