Assistant Professor - Fashion Designing

Job Description:

Role & Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver a comprehensive curriculum for undergraduate/postgraduate courses in fashion design, including fundamentals of sketching, draping, pattern making, grading, and garment construction using both manual and digital tools like Adobe Illustrator and CLO 3D.
Conduct hands-on practical sessions in studios, teaching sewing techniques, fabric manipulation, textile science, and sustainable design practices to enhance student skills in creating industry-ready prototypes.
Mentor students on portfolio development, trend analysis, and capstone projects, providing individualised feedback to prepare them for fashion weeks, internships, and employment in brands like Raymond or international labels.
Assess student performance through assignments, vivas, catwalk presentations, and exams; maintain accurate records and contribute to academic audits and accreditation processes.
Collaborate with industry experts for guest lectures, workshops, and live projects; organise fashion shows and exhibitions to bridge academia with market demands.
Stay updated on global trends, eco-friendly materials, and technologies like 3D printing; integrate research into teaching and publish papers in fashion journals.
Participate in departmental activities, including curriculum revision, student counselling, and administrative duties like scheduling and event coordination.


Qualifications: Graduates in Fashion Design/Textiles or related field; teaching experience preferred. Open to candidates with a recognised designing certificate (e.g., NIFT or equivalent).
