Job Description:
Role Overview
The Junior Electrical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within our facilities. This role involves gaining hands-on experience, supporting senior staff, and ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including motors, control panels, wiring, switches, and lighting systems.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues and faults using specialized testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, circuit testers).
- Installation Support: Support senior technicians and engineers in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical machinery, power systems, and components.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and relevant electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs and records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and materials used, reporting findings to supervisors.
- Collaboration: Work effectively within the maintenance team and coordinate with other departments (e.g., operations, production) to minimize operational downtime.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of electrical spare parts and ensuring necessary tools and equipment are available and in good working orde
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, technical/vocational training, or an Associate/Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering is often preferred.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of proven experience in electrical maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, blueprints, and technical diagrams. Familiarity with PLC/VFD systems is a plus.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting equipment, working at heights or in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
- Work Conditions: Willingness to work in varying conditions and potentially respond to emergency calls or work different shifts as needed.
Skills Required:
- Technical Skills: Electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, blueprint/schematic reading, use of diagnostic tools (multimeter, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, attention to detail, and adaptability
