The Manager – Direct Tax will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s direct tax function. The role involves tax planning, compliance, audits, and advisory support to business teams, ensuring adherence to Indian tax laws while optimising tax efficiency for a fast-paced jewellery business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Direct Tax Planning & Compliance
- Conduct detailed analysis of direct taxes and provide expert advice on tax planning and optimisation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Income Tax laws, rules, and regulations.
- Tax Returns & Statutory Filings
- Preparation and review of Income Tax Returns, Tax Audit Reports, Transfer Pricing documentation, TDS Returns, and other statutory forms.
- Analyse applicability of relevant clauses, sections, and provisions under tax laws through effective coordination with internal functions.
- TDS & Advance Tax
- Monthly and quarterly calculation, deposit, and filing of TDS returns.
- Computation and payment of advance tax and monitoring of tax provisions.
- Assessments, Audits & Notices
- Coordinate and manage departmental audits, assessments, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities.
- Liaise with consultants, auditors, and tax authorities for smooth closure of matters.
- Documentation & Record Maintenance
- Maintain proper documentation and records related to tax filings, assessments, provisions, and compliance.
- Ensure readiness for statutory and internal audits.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with finance, legal, operations, and other departments to ensure alignment on tax matters.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
- Regulatory Updates & Risk Management
- Stay updated with changes in Indian tax laws and proactively identify risks or opportunities for the organisation.
- Tax Governance & Awareness
- Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness across the organisation.
- Conduct training and provide ongoing support to relevant teams as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
· Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory
· Experience in manufacturing or jewellery industry will be an added advantage
