Job Description:

Company is a contract manufacturer of cosmetic and medicated products based in Ahmedabad. With over 50 years of experience in cosmetics and dermatology, Company is a trusted name in the industry. The company is GMP, GLP, and ISO 9001:2015 certified, ensuring the highest quality standards. Company manufactures a wide range of products including dusting powders, talcum powders, shampoo, conditioner, cream, gel, lotions, oil, soaps, sunscreen, serums and more. With a strong client base, Company works with over 200 companies across India.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operational functions of Vimson Derma, ensuring seamless execution across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, HR, finance, and business operations. The COO will work closely with the directors to drive strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and sustainable growth while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturing standards (including WHO, GMP, and other certifications).

Key responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning & Execution:
    • Translate the company’s vision and goals into clear operational strategies.
    • Develop and implement business plans to support growth, scalability and sustainability.
    • Lead initiatives – new plant setup, machinery installation, compliance upgrades and restructuring.
    • Drive digital transformation (ERP, automation, reporting dashboards) for efficiency.
    • Identify new business opportunities and ensure operational readiness for expansion.

  2. Manufacturing & Plant Operations
    • Oversee end to end plant operations for Cosmetics & Pharma divisions.
    • Ensure production targets are achieved with optimal resource utilization.
    • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and continuous improvement practices.
    • Monitor production efficiency, wastage, downtime and cost per unit metrics.
    • Oversee preventive maintenance and reduce machine breakdowns.
    • Ensure workplace safety, housekeeping standards and compliance with EHS (Environment, Health, Safety).

  3. Supply Chain & Procurement
    • Ensure timely procurement of raw & packing materials in alignment with production plans.
    • Optimize inventory management (Raw Material, Packing Material and Finished Goods).
    • Strengthen supplier/vendor relationships and drive cost savings without compromising quality.
    • Ensure smooth logistics and dispatch operations for timely client deliveries.
    • Reduce supply chain risks and build contingency plans for critical materials.

  4. Quality, R&D & Compliance
    • Ensure strict compliance with GMP, WHO and other regulatory guidelines.
    • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to maintain highest standards of product quality.
    • Strengthen documentation, COA processes and audit readiness.
    • Drive innovation by collaborating with R&D for new product development and technology upgradation.
    • Ensure regulatory submissions, audits and certifications are handled smoothly.

  5. People Leadership & Organization Building
    • Build, mentor and retain a strong leadership team across departments.
    • Foster a performance-driven culture with clear KRAs, KPIs and accountability.
    • Ensure training and capability building for managers, supervisors and workers.
    • Work closely with HR on manpower planning, labor engagement and compliance.
    • Resolve conflicts, improve interdepartmental coordination and enhance trust within teams.

  6. Finance & Business Efficiency
    • Drive profitability by controlling costs, improving operational efficiency and reducing wastage.
    • Collaborate with the Accounts & Finance team to monitor budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
    • Ensure timely client billing, payment collections, and vendor payments.
    • Support the CEO in fundraising, investment decisions and cost benefit analyses for expansions.

  7. Client & Market Alignment
    • Ensure client requirements (domestic and international) are met with high service levels.
    • Build strong operational processes for third party manufacturing and private label clients.
    • Support Marketing & Sales team by aligning production and supply with client commitments.
    • Drive customer satisfaction through timely delivery, quality consistency, and responsiveness

  8. Risk Management & Governance
    • Identify and mitigate operational risks related to compliance, supply chain and workforce.
    • Ensure business continuity planning (BCP) for crises (raw material shortages, labor strikes etc.).
    • Establish strong governance practices and transparent reporting structures.
    • Provide regular performance and operational reports to the CEO/ Board.

Required qualification and skills:
• Graduate/ Postgraduate in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 10–12 years’ leadership experience in pharmaceutical/derma manufacturing or related sectors.
• Strong track record in business growth, client retention and operational leadership.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Working Days: 6 days
