Job Description:
A Fitter's job involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and structural components using blueprints, hand/power tools, and precision to ensure systems function safely and correctly in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings. Key duties include reading technical drawings, cutting/shaping metal, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with teams to meet project specifications. 
 
Key Responsibilities
    • Assembly & Installation: Fit, assemble, and install machinery, piping, and equipment according to technical plans.
    • Fabrication: Cut, shape, and grind metal components using tools like shears, grinders, and torches.

 

  • Maintenance: Conduct routine checks, perform preventative maintenance, and repair faulty equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix malfunctioning mechanical systems and replace broken parts.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Quality Control: Inspect fabricated parts and finished work to ensure they meet size and quality standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and industry standards at all times. 

 

 
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with hand/power tools, welding equipment, and interpreting blueprints.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours, stand, and lift heavy items.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial for correct alignment and fit.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with engineers and other tradespeople.
