Job Description:
Purchase Engineer in the DC Motor Manufacturing Industry is a techno-commercial position focused on sourcing high-precision electrical and mechanical components. This role ensures that production schedules for motors (e.g., BLDC, PMSM, or Induction) are met by managing technical specifications, supplier quality, and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Technical Sourcing: Identify and procure critical DC motor components, including castings, stampings, copper winding wire, magnets, commutators, and carbon brushes.
  • Vendor Development: Research and evaluate potential global and local suppliers for specialized parts like bearings and electronic controllers.
  • Technical Specification Review: Interpret engineering drawings and quality standards (e.g., ISO, QMS) to ensure procured materials meet strict motor performance criteria.
  • Negotiation & Cost Management: Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize the Bill of Materials (BoM) cost.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels (Days of Stock/Month of Stock) to prevent production halts while minimizing excess capital tied in raw materials.
  • Supplier Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality department to resolve non-conformance issues and conduct regular supplier audits for technical compliance.
  • Procurement Process Management: Issue Purchase Orders (POs) through ERP systems (like SAP MM) and track shipments, including managing customs for imported materials.

Required Qualifications :
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics (EC), or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Typically 1–2 years in manufacturing procurement, specifically in the motor, automotive, or power electronics industries.

Essential Skills :
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of raw materials (steel grades, copper) and manufacturing processes like machining and stamping.
  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with SAP (MM Module), Oracle, or other ERP/SCM software.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with taxation (GST, VAT) and international shipping/customs clearance procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical abilities for cost modeling and advanced negotiation skills for vendor management.
Company Profile

The Company is an ISO 9001-2015, IS0 14001-2015 & OSHAS 18001-2007 certified company engaged in the manufacturing of DC servo motors since 1994. These motors are used for various applications and also as an import substitute.
