Job Description:
The HR Assistant Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end HR operations, ensuring strict adherence to statutory and pharma-specific regulatory compliances, and managing the employee lifecycle within a high-stakes manufacturing or R&D environment. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Lead recruitment for specialized API roles including R&D, QA, QC, Production, and Supply Chain. Partner with department heads to develop manpower plans and detailed job descriptions.
  • Statutory & Pharma Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with labor laws (Factories Act, CLRA, PF, ESI, Payment of Wages). Support industry-specific audits such as GMPISO, and external regulatory audits.
  • Industrial Relations & Grievance Management: Manage contract labor, handle employee grievances, and facilitate disciplinary procedures to maintain a harmonious plant environment.
  • Payroll & Compensation: Oversee payroll coordination, statutory deductions, insurance, bonuses, and gratuity. Manage compensation benchmarking to remain competitive in the pharma market.
  • Performance Management (PMS): Drive annual appraisal cycles, including goal setting, feedback discussions, and implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) where necessary.
  • Employee Engagement & Retention: Design and execute retention strategies to reduce early attrition and foster a productive workplace culture.
  • Learning & Development (L&D): Identify skill gaps and coordinate training programs, particularly regarding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. 
 
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: MBA or MSW in Human Resources/Personal Management is typically mandatory.
  • Experience: 6–10 years of core HR experience specifically in API, Pharma, or chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Specialized Knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws and factory-related compliance.
    • Familiarity with Pharma-specific standards like Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    • Proficiency in HRIS and HRMS platforms for data-driven reporting.
