Agronomist – Potato Procurement
Industry: Frozen Food / Food Processing
Experience: 5–6 Years
Location Coverage: Uttar Pradesh (UP), Haryana, Punjab
Key Potato Varieties Knowledge (Mandatory)
- Santana
- Chipsona-1
- Frysona
- Fryom LR
- Sarfonera
- Other processing-grade potato varieties
Preferred Industry Background
The candidate should have prior experience working with or supplying to reputed potato processing / frozen food companies such as:
- McCain
- HyFun
- PepsiCo
- Mahindra
- ITC
- Iskon Balaji
- Falcon
- Or similar potato processing / frozen food companies
Key Responsibilities
- Procure processing-grade potatoes from open market and contract farming sources
- Maintain strong professional relationships with:
- Potato traders
- Cold storages / cold rooms
- Aggregators and mandi networks
- Manage potato sourcing across UP, Haryana, and Punjab
- Ensure consistent quality, size, and dry matter suitable for French fries and other processing needs
- Coordinate timely dispatch of potatoes to the factory
- Possess basic understanding of potato raw material processing requirements including:
- Dry matter
- Sugar levels
- Defects
- Impact of storage on quality
- Coordinate closely with Production and Quality teams
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of potato market pricing and seasonal trends
- Knowledge of potato storage, handling, and logistics
- Ability to assess raw potato quality at the procurement stage
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
CTC (Cost to Company)
₹5.0 – ₹5.5 LPA
Compensation will be based on experience, market network strength, and technical fit.
