Job Description:
An IT Manager in a steel manufacturing plant oversees computer networks, software, and hardware infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime for critical production systems. They manage IT operations, security, ERP systems, and OT (Operational Technology) connectivity while driving digital transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain reliable networks, servers, and hardware, specifically supporting high-availability industrial IT needs.
- System Operations: Oversee ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and shop-floor manufacturing execution systems (MES).
- Security & Compliance: Ensure cyber security for both corporate and production networks (IT/OT convergence) and maintain safety protocols.
- Strategic Planning: Develop IT initiatives that align with production, inventory, and supply chain goals.
- Support & Training: Lead IT staff, manage vendor relationships, and train personnel on new technology.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience as an IT Manager in a manufacturing, heavy industry, or steel plant environment.
- Technical proficiency in network administration, cybersecurity, and ERP implementation.
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and project management capabilities.
This role bridges the gap between traditional IT functions and industrial automation (OT) to enhance overall productivity and operational efficiency.
