Assistant Manager Machine Shop
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Planning, loading & Scheduling of machines: Schedule, prioritize, and monitor work to ensure on-time delivery of parts against each machine and operator daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage, train, mentor, and evaluate machinists; assign daily tasks, manage shift schedules. Improve man -machine utilisation / performance through proper monitoring.
- Quality Control & Safety: Enforce safety regulations (PPE), maintain 5S standards. Ensure compliance with engineering drawings and finished parts meet quality requirements.
- Operations Oversight: During operation correct tool sharpness, rake, clearance angle / feed speed & depth of cut being used. Troubleshoot for small machine issues / breakdowns, oversee job setups, and optimize workflows to increase efficiency. Eye on waste.
- Inventory & Tooling: Manage inventory, order tooling, and maintain equipment.
- Continual Improvements : improvement of cycle time by process improvement /changing tool type/ nomenclature / fixturing
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in conventional machine shop with brief exposure in CNC turning and it programming (FANUC control).
- Technical Knowledge: In depth knowledge on conventional machining (Lathe, Shaping, Radial Drill, Horizontal Boring) with exposure in CNC- turning and its programming. Understanding of tools nomenclature and operating parameter.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and manage in a union or non-union environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal, reading and writing skills in Bengali & Engish.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD and Odoo ERP systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a manufacturing setting.
Education
- Degree of Diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Pass out from CTTC Bon-Hooghly (4 years course) preferred.
