Role Overview

The Team Lead – Direct Channel is responsible for managing a team of Direct Sales Executives (DSEs) to drive health insurance sales through direct channels such as walk-ins, inbound leads, digital enquiries, and corporate tie-ups. The role focuses on team productivity, revenue growth, customer acquisition, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Drive health insurance sales targets for the direct channel

  • Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual business goals

  • Monitor daily sales performance and conversion ratios

  • Implement sales strategies to improve lead-to-policy conversion

Team Management & Development

  • Recruit, train, and manage Direct Sales Executives

  • Conduct regular sales coaching, product training, and motivation sessions

  • Track individual performance and ensure productivity benchmarks

  • Manage attendance, discipline, and team engagement

Lead & Customer Management

  • Handle inbound leads, walk-ins, and digital enquiries

  • Ensure proper lead allocation and follow-ups

  • Support the team in closing high-value or complex cases

  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and retention levels

Product & Process Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations and company policies

  • Monitor KYC, documentation, and policy issuance processes

  • Minimize policy rejections, cancellations, and mis-selling risks

MIS & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly sales MIS and funnel reports

  • Track persistency, renewals, and claims escalations

  • Provide market feedback and competitor insights to management


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of health insurance products (Retail, Family Floater, Group)

  • Team handling and people management skills

  • Sales planning, negotiation, and closing abilities

  • Understanding of direct sales channels & digital leads

  • Excellent communication and customer-handling skills
